Devil’s Advocate: How Patriots “Legally Cheated” And Best Way NFL Could Punish Them For DeflateGate

Image Credit: @TrekBikes Disclosure: I am huge Patriots fan who was born & raised in New England. So while my loyalties remain with Brady & the Bunch until the bitter end, this is an attempt to via my beloved team from a “haters” perspective. What originally started (or rather gained publicity) from a tweet… Breaking: A league source tells me the NFL is investigating the possibility the Patriots deflated footballs Sunday night. More to come. — Bob Kravitz (@bkravitz) January 19, 2015 …has erupted into a unsportsmanlike fracus best described as Deflate Gate in which Patriots are accused of deflating the American football (not to be confused with the international football aka a US soccer ball) in order to gain an unfair advantage over every NFL team. In theory a deflated football would be easier to throw & catch, as well as harder for a defender to punch out of the arms of any receivers, running backs, et al. So if Patriots Coach Bill Belichick wanted to secretly deflate the footballs sans sorcery or hiring Sith lords, how would he do it‽ Answer: Science! However, the NFL found that 11 of the Patriots 12 balls were “underinflated by about 2 pounds each.” In order for a ball to register a 10.5 PSI in a 50 degree environment but register a 12.5 PSI in the testing environment, the ball would...

GOP Fail: Obama Compared To Hitler By Texas Congressman Randy Weber

Another day, another GOP setback for reaching non-pale Americans. Sigh… Even Adolph Hitler thought it more important than Obama to get to Paris. (For all the wrong reasons.) Obama couldn’t do it for right reasons — Randy Weber (@TXRandy14) January 13, 2015 Just in case Randy Weber deletes his tweet (probably within the next 24 hours) here is a screen shot: …plus a tweet summary… @TXRandy14: Even Adolph Hitler thought it more important than Obama to get to Paris. (For all the wrong reasons.) Obama couldn’t do it for right reasons Although I was not surprised Obama did not...

Dear Google, Help Microsoft Fix Security Exploits Faster!

Honestly this (excuse the vulgar parable) pissing match between Google & Microsoft is leaving businesses as well as users not only soaking wet, but also potentially humiliated in front of hackers world wide! Reading Engadget’s article, one would assume Google preemptively exposed an Windows 8.1 security flaw to the world without giving Microsoft enough time to issue a patch. However it appears Microsoft either procrastinated issuing an immediate patch or lacked the resources to quickly resolve the security exploit. Google made the latest disclosure as part of its “Project Zero” security initiative, which provides companies a 90-day deadline to fix vulnerabilities before they are disclosed publicly, giving hackers key details to exploit the bug. In this case, the flaw in the Windows 8.1 log-on mechanism would allow an attacker to escalate their privileges on a user’s computer, effectively taking over the machine. (Via Geek Wire) Microsoft (for reasons unknown) needed 92 days to fix this exploit, so they are not surprisingly enraged at Google for not extending them grace & mercy for an extra 48 hours. While geek lovers & haters will once again debate which tech giant was irresponsible in this scenario, it would be better for businesses & users if Google would help Microsoft fix exploits faster! Even if Google billed Microsoft for resolving the exploit (as the latter can afford it), it would be better than this...

Google Hangouts Killing Off Google Voice App

Google’s latest Google Hangouts app update will finally kill of their semi-neglected Google Voice app. Users can now receive & see SMS/MMS messages as well as voicemails within the Google Hangouts app! Unfortunately activating this written by an engineer, not designed for humans feature is a pain! Those seeking a way to say “Goodbye Google Voice, Hello Hangouts!” can activate this feature by tapping upon the Profile picture… …then tapping on the Settings Gear Icon… …& scrolling down towards the Phone Number menu option (yes, tapping on it is required!). Verify that Incoming Phone Calls is on (the toggle...
