No, this is not a belated April Fools joke or a desperate director/producer attempting to scam a few more pennies out of the wallets of action seeking Americans.
Yes, this is a real movie deal that actually might happen! (key word is “might”)
“Threshold Entertainment has teamed up with the Tetris Company to develop a live-action film based on the game. While no directors or cast are attached to the film yet, there is a story in place.”
““It’s a very big, epic sci-fi movie,” Threshold’s CEO Larry Kasanoff tells Speakeasy exclusively. “This isn’t a movie with a bunch of lines running around the page. We’re not giving feet to the geometric shapes.” (Wall Street Journal)”
According to the Wall Street Journal there will be some intergalactic thread running through the story (although sadly no block zombies will chase anyone).
While it’s still too early to tell whether Tetris the movie will be the dawn of something awesome or the emerging of yet another fluke, my only hope is that this film is better than the parady below…
