Using MoviePro to Vine/Instagram my videos

So it looks like I found an app that uses the shoot and pause¬†editing effects that made Vine so popular (not to mention Instagram Videos as well).¬† It’s called MoviePro and so far I love it! (especially the secret camera part!) You can even zoom in (or out) while recording which is an added bonus! ūüôā You can also reduce the frame rate for effects shots (I wouldn’t recommend this) and take photos while recording a video (a feature that many video apps are still¬†not using!) Unfortunately the app only supports Camera Roll¬†and YouTube¬†uploading (I’ve requested Vimeo support but Tumblr, WordPress, et al, would be nice). Note: Finally located the company behind the...

Want Evernote Clearly on iOS? Just use Lightly!

Woke up this morning greeted by another round of boring updates with one exception.¬† So like any good geek I went and purchased Lightly for 299 pennies (er…$2.99 USD).¬† Basically it’s like a stripped down version of Evernote Clearly but for iOS.¬† You basically highlight any text in any browser (like Google Chrome)… …and it will automagically appear the next time you open the Lightly app! (which syncs with your Evernote account).¬† Sadly Lightly doesn’t highlight the text in the app that you originally copied from the browser (note:¬†this needed¬†within Lightly) although you can do this yourself manually inside Lightly.¬† Update: Apparently Lightly does automagically highly the text within the app, although it didn’t do it for the coffe lover article (others are working fine though).¬† Another item Lightly could improve upon is the ability to share upon more social networks (say App.net and Tumblr) but in the age of IFTTT (another great app!) that isn’t as critical any more.¬† Ironically I love Lightly so much that I decided to make room for it on my home screen (and yes, I have a whole row dedicated to Evernote and friends!).¬† Note:¬†Sadly the official Lightly website (over at LightlyApp.com) is down, although the IgnitionSoft team’s corporate website is up!...

Using @IFTTT to semi-automagically push @Medium posts to Twitter

Even though Medium.com lacks an iOS app (which is desperately¬†needed), I decided that I’m going to attempt to include it on “the list” of platforms to write upon.¬† That said what really annoyed me about Medium was the lack of a way to push posts upon Twitter (or even the beloved App.net) and since Google’s FeedBurner was not exactly cooperating (sadness) I decided to use IFTTT.com iOS app instead.¬† If you’re a geek then you don’t need to RTFM (a phrase often repeated to newbie’s apparently–and Google the acronym for the full meaning). For everyone else who isn’t a geek and has an IFTTT plus Medium account, here is a step-by-step guide to semi-automagically have your Medium posts tweeted to the twitterverse.¬† Here we go! 1) Within IFTTT click on the “recipe bowl” icon located in the top right corner.¬† 2) Then click on the “+” icon in the top right corner.¬† 3)¬†Search for the orange¬†Feed¬†icon, then tap on the first blue +¬†button.¬† 4) Type in medium.com/feed/@username¬†where “username” is the screen name to your Medium profile (mine is @Darnell for instance). Then tap on the blue Continue¬†button.¬† 5) Next tap on the red¬†+¬†button 6) Locate the Twitter¬†bird icon on the slider (slide towards the left to view it on the right), then tap on the first blue +¬†icon. ¬† 7) Last, tap on the Finish¬†button and now the twitterverse...

You Win @Evernote. Switching to Google Drive for @IFTTT Recipes

So after downloading the IFTTT iOS app (which stands for If This, Then That¬†for you non-geeks out there) I’ve discovered to my horror that using Evernote for anything within IFTTT results in this error below: I thought it might have something to do with using 2-factor authentication but then again I use that for other sites as well (like Google Drive).¬† Fortunately I have an alternative to Evernote that seems to be working (Google ¬†Drive to be precise) although I wish it was upon Evernote’s servers instead of the Google Goliath’s....

Coming Soon(ish): A @Medium iPhone App?

According to a tweet exchange between¬†@FAUX_SHO and @Medium, it looks like an iPhone app is on the way! So far I like Medium (I’m¬†@Darnell over there for what it’s worth) but creating content via mobile web is the complete opposite of the desktop experience (the latter which is awesome by the way). Glad an iPhone app is in the works, but sad that no time table for it has been revealed so...
